Then
The number of putts made by Chris = 4x
The total number of putts made by Paul and Chris together = 60
Then the equation to find the number of putts made by Paul is
x + 4x = 60
The above equation can be solved to find the total number of puts made by Paul. Let us now solve the equation.
x + 4x = 60
5x = 60
x = 60/5
   = 12
So Paul made 12 putts in total.
