[tex] x^{3} - 3 x^{2} - x +3 [/tex]

You have to do that first.

[tex]=( x^{3} -3x^2)+(-x+3)[/tex]

Then, you have to remove out the factor x^2.

[tex]= x^2(x-3) - (x-3)[/tex]

Now, factor out the common factor (x-3).

[tex]=(x-3)(x^2-1)[/tex]

And at the end, factor x² -1.

[tex]x^2-1=(x+1)(x-1)[/tex]

It gives : [tex]= (x-3)(x+1)(x-1)[/tex]

Hope this helps !
