Theodore Roosevelt--a conservationist, progressive, and president who created the US Forest Service in 1905.
Theodore Roosevelt believed in the use of resources for industry but that they needed to be preserved in special cases. He enjoyed nature and didn't want to see it all destroyed by mining and deforestation. He helped to create the National Parks Service and the US Forest Service during his presidency to save some of the US's nature.
