The refugee act of 1980 was trying to modernize the procedures and protocol to manage the situations of immigration. It was of great help for those who came from Syria for example. The law gives the president the right to take action in scenarios like these. Overall, the United States would be greater seen as a country who refugees and depend on for refuge upon their escape. It increased the immigration limit from 17,400 to 50,000!
