To find the slope, you need to use the slope formula.

Find the slope using the slope formula:
[tex]m = \frac{Y_2 - Y_1}{X_2 - X_1}[/tex]

Using the slope formula, plugin your points. I am going to use (6,9) as point 2 and (7,1) as point 1

[tex]m = \frac{Y_2 - Y_1}{X_2 - X_1}[/tex]
[tex]m = \frac{9 - 1}{6 - 7} = \frac{8}{-1} = -8[/tex]

So our slope of the line through (6,9) (7,1) is - 8
