Domain is basically the x value and the range is the y value. Domain is also known as the input and range is known as the output.

The domain refers to the x values of a function. The range refers to the y values. In a linear equation such as y=2x, for example, the domain would be negative infinity to positive infinity. 

[-∞, ∞] 

The range would be the same. However, for certain equations such as most parabolas, the range of a function (the vertical limits) are not infinite.
