4 consecutive odd numbers.....x, x + 2, x + 4, x + 6

x + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 6 = 40
4x + 12 = 40
4x = 40 - 12
4x = 28
x = 28/4
x = 7

x + 2 = 7 + 2 = 9 <=== the 2nd number is 9
x + 4 = 7 + 4 = 11
x + 6 = 7 + 6 = 13
