Chaining is a technique used to teach individuals with developmental disabilities keeping in mind their individual behaviors. There are two types of chaining techniques- forward and backward.

Both the techniques involves the same process, but in backward technique, the teaching process begins from the last step and comes forward to the first step. Backward chaining is used when a student is taught an easier from the last step of the task than the first.
