The European paper Timbuktu tells us about the trade in West Africa. The main items that were traded were gold and salt. The gold mines of West Africa provided great wealth to the Africans of the West area such as Ghana and Mali. There were other items being traded such as ivory, nuts, clothes, beads, kola an metal goods.
