The answer is my honest specialty--- I love the entirety of the story. Odysseus returned home to find his wife Penelope surrounded by high-nosed, snotty suitors leaning over and breathing down her neck. Because he wanted revenge against these suitors, he dressed as a beggar so they might underestimate him.
