We are given the two equations:

(1) -x=29-14y
(2) -9x=-19+14y

Multiply (1) by 9:

-9x = 261 – 126y

Subtract the two equations:

-9x = 261 – 126y

-

-9x=-19 + 14y

0 = 280 – 140y

140y = 280

y = 2

From (1):

-x = 29 – 14 (2)

x = -1

Answers:

x = -1

y = 2
