The collapse of the Rapa Nui civilization on Easter Island in the southern pacific is attributed to several factors. These factors include human activity, the introduction of the Polynesian rat, and overpopulation. These led to the eventual deforestation as well as extinction of the natural resources in the island which weakened their civilization.
