Answer:

So the slopes of two perpendicular lines are the negative reciprocals of each other. If you think of -5 as a fraction, you'd write it as -5 / 1. The reciprocal is just found by flipping the fraction which would give you -1 / 5. And since it's the negative reciprocal, - 1 / 5 becomes positive 1 / 5.
