-2 < k is the same as k > -2

To graph this, plot an open hole at -2 on the number line.

Then shade to the right.

This visually describes all values larger than -2. The value -2 itself is not included in the solution set (due to the open hole). If we wanted to include the endpoint, then we would need to change the "greater than" to "greater than or equal to".
