According to social identity theory, individuals view their own group favorably so as to: think of themselves more favorably
This will make them feel a sense superiority toward other people that do not belong in their group. If they do not try to control this type of thinking, they could be trapped in an echo chamber where they secluded themselves from other people's opinion besides their group's.
