You can rearrange it so that when you square both sides the radical will go away, move the radical by itself and then square everything.

[tex]x+8=6 \sqrt{x} [/tex]
[tex]x^2+16x+64=36x[/tex]
[tex]x^2-20x+64=0[/tex]
