The midpoint means your cutting it in half, so you want to take the sum of the endpoints and divide them by two. The equation for this is (x1 + x2 / 2 , y1 + y2 / 2).
(12 + -8 / 2 , 4 + 8 / 2)
(4/2 , 12/2)
(2,6) is your midpoint
