To solve this problem, we simply divide the new quantity by the old quantity.

57 ÷ 60 = 0.95

Now convert this decimal into a percent.
We convert decimals into percents by moving the decimal point two places to the right and make it into a % sign.

0.95 = 95%

And finally, subtract 95% from 100%.

100% - 95% = 5%

So, the decrease was 5%.
