All sides of a square are equal. The area of a square is equal to length x width. Therefore the area would be (x-3)*(x-3) or (x-3)^2 , which would give you an area of x^2-6x+9

They should have given the area or the value of x and if not then we can solve it as a quadratic and the answer would be (x-3)(x-9). Hope this helps.
