Subtract 12 from the right to the left, and add the 6g to the right.  
Divide by 6 and you get 4 equal to x.

To solve equations like these, you essentially have to work backwards.

First step is to subtract 36 from both sides.

-6g - 36 = -24

Then we divide both by -6.

-6g / -6 = g

-24 / -6 = 4
