Impressionist painting and symbolist poetry as artistic movements originated in France. These two styles of art got their name from critics who, back then, did not seem to have an open-mind as to what artists are portraying. Probably because the styles implied on the production of such, is new and outside-the-box, or beyond what the artists' eye could see and express through utterance of words.
