The temperature started at -25°C. If it went up 2°C and then up 4°C, what was the final temperature?

So it is basically -25+2+4 or -25+6.
Since it is a negative, adding a positive will move the number to the right on a number line. 
-25+6=-19

you would add 2 and 4 which is 6. and that you would add 6 to -25 which would leave you with -19.
