To find the zeros you can factor the problem, graph the function, or plug in an answer and see if the result is 0.  If given answers I usually plug and chug.

The answer is D
(-5)^2 - 9(-5) - 70
25 + 45 - 70 = 0 this is a root. or a zero of the function
