The environment of a region can influence behaviours in several ways. Take Norway for an example. Way back when in then in the Viking ages, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark all developed ways to navigate through the cold waters or the Northern Atlantic. They would pray to the gods, and cast runes to ask for a safe voyage. These days, Norway is well known for it's fishing industry.
