An absolute monarchy is a government system in which the king or queen has all of the power, no parliament, or legislation. They make all of the decisions, similar to a dictatorship. There are theoretically no written laws to get in their way, this is an old idea not commonly practiced anymore. The way one comes into power is usually hereditary meaning through the bloodline.
