Good Morning!

In naming intendants, Louis XIV intended to place his men throughout the country, granting his absolute control. This French king had over 50,000 royal agents, including councilors and ministers. The chief function of the intendants was to inspect the working of the collection and taxes and debts, including those involving Catholic parishes.
