why do scientists want to identify the DNA sequence of every human gene

So they can identify what every gene does, and possibly cure genetic diseases before someone gets them.

To help find mutations that may appear in the DNA, and be able to understand why we get sick and try to help cure it in a proper non harmful way that the  human body can handle.
