-6a+2b=8
add (6a) to both sides
-6a +2b+6a = 8 +6a
simplify
2b = 8+ 6a
divide both sides by 2
2b/2 =(8+6a)/2
simplify
b= 8/2 + 6a/2
b=4 +3a
or
b=3a+4
