Much of the Vikings' success was due to the technical superiority of their shipbuilding. Their ships proved to be very fast. Thanks to the shape of their ships, they also had the element of surprise. They had large networks which provided knowledge of their enemies. Vikings were also heavily armed. Their weapons were often of the highest quality available at the time. The Vikings were skilled warriors.
