As defined, between each and every distinct pair of points there always exists another point. In other words, by definition, a number line contains an infinite number of points. The only difference is that a timeline covers only nonnegative numbers.

Since they both use for the same purpose to plot number in this case time lines are used to plot dates where events happens while number line just plots number and the decimals of it.
