Answer:

Let x be the number of hours for 1.74 miles

5.3 miles         3.2 hours

1.74 miles        x

When you cross multiply the above numbers you get the equation:

5.3x = 5.568

x = 5.568/5.3

x = 1.05

Therefore it takes 1.05 hours to walk 1.74 miles.
