When the colonists first came to the America’s they strongly disagreed with the native Americans way of clearing the forest. The native Americans had controlled fires which made room for crops, brought in a large supply of food, and in a much faster rate. The colonizers thought it would be safer to individually chop down tree after tree, which took longer and brought in no food source.
