Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was born into the Mahar caste, which was considered untouchable, in 1891 in Mhow district of Madhya Pradesh. He is known as the father of the Indian constitution and is also the best-known leader of the Dalits. Later, in life, he converted to Buddhism. He died in 1956.
