Al-Ma'mun followed in his father's footsteps by encouraging the scholars to translate the ancient works of antiquity into Arabic in the House of Wisdom. Ideas were transmitted from Greek, Indian, Persian and Syrian languages into Arabic. Al-Ma'mun were encourage Islamic scholars to build on these findings.
