How do I use the Pythagorean Theorem with square roots??
plz help i don't even have a grade in math ._.

Pythagorean theorem is

[tex] {a}^{2} + {b}^{2} = {c}^{2} [/tex]

Say a triangle looked like the attached picture.

To solve for x, plug the values into the pythagorean theorem.

[tex] {x}^{2} + { \sqrt{2} }^{2} = {3}^{2} [/tex]

[tex] {x}^{2} + 2 = 9[/tex]

[tex] {x}^{2} = 7[/tex]

[tex]x = \sqrt{7} [/tex]
