Answer: m = 7 or -2

Step-by-step explanation:

Quadratic Formula!  [tex]\frac{{-b (+/-)\sqrt{(b^{2}-4ac }}}{2a}[/tex]

Polynomial Form: [tex]ax^{2} +bx+c[/tex]

So in this example a: 1  b: -5  c: -14

You get:[tex]\frac{{-(-5) (+/-)\sqrt{((-5)^{2}-4(1)(-14) }}}{2(1)}[/tex]

m = 7 or -2

Check by plugging a value back in for m

[tex](7)^{2} -5(7)-14=0?\\(-2)^{2} -5(-2)-14=0?\\[/tex]

True for both.
