In some cases, patients will elect to have a "DNR" (Do Not Resuscitate) order in place, meaning that there should be no life-saving measures taken for the patient. Why is this important to know in a clinic setting as well as a hospital setting?
This can effect the quality of life if a person is hospitalized for a long period of time and destined to die soon. Let’s say the person was resuscitated... he may have to live with broken ribs or a condition that will stay with him till death. Hope this helps!
