slope m =  y₂ - y₁  / x₂ -x₁

Here

x₁ = 1

x₂ =5

y₁=1

y₂= -1

putting these value in the slope formula

then we get

m= (-1) - 1 / 5 -1

 =  -2/4

divide by 2 both numerator and denominator

we get

m = -1/2

Hence slope of the given line is

m = -1/2
