The composition of French artist Georges da La Tour (1593 - 1652), called The Penitent Magdalene (1640), also known as Mary Magdalene with the Lamparina, reflects La Tour's great sensitivity in portraying human figures. He is also regarded as an expert on still lifes, as the background view.
