Why is it important that the bonds between nitrogenous bases are weak?

It is important that the hydrogen bonds are weak because this enables them to be formed and broken easily while still giving shape to the DNA structure. For example, when DNA replicates itself it can unzip easily because of the weak bonds that aid the helicase enzyme to do its job.
