The correct answer is chromatin. Chromatin is the granular material visible within the nucleus of a cell. It contains coiled DNA and other simple proteins called histones inside it. If you look at a cell through using a light microscope you can see the chromatin within the nucleus. The purpose of the chromatin is to hold and protect the DNA.
