7x + 7y = -21

48x - 8y = 136            This is where you find a common sum.

8(7x + 7y = -21)             ex: 7 and 8

7(48x - 8y = 136)

56x + 56y = -168         Multiply it out

336x -56y = 952

392x = 784                  Divide/Simplify

x = 2

Now substitute to find Y. I hope this helped!
