y=4x-4 and -2x+y=-3, What is the point that satisfies both equations?

To find that out we can use substitution on -2x+y=-3.

It should look like -2x+(4x-4)=-3.

After distributing the properties you should have 2x-4=-3.

Add 4 to both sides

2x=1

Divide 2 to both sides and x equals 0.5.

You can now plug x into either equation, I am going to use y=4x-4 for this example.

So y=4x-4 is now y=4(0.5)-4

y=2-4

y=-2

So the point that satisfies both equations is (0.5,-2)
