The invention of the Middle Ages which contributed to making books easily available was the Printing press.

Due to this invention, books had the chance to be introduced into the industrial age. And as a result, the production cost of individual books in large editions was lowered incredibly; which allowed an increase in the distribution of books and made them more affordable for people.
