First you have to distribute the 2 into the (x-5) to get 2x-10

You are left with 5+2x-10

Combine like terms

2x-5

PEMDAS is important for this equation. You must do what is in parenthesis first. So you multiply 2(X-5), and you get 2X-10. The you combine like terms to get 2X-5.
