For this case we have the following function:

[tex]f (x) = x ^ 4 + 2x ^ 2-1[/tex]

What we must do is evaluate the value of x = 3 in the given function.

We have then:

[tex]f (3) = (3) ^ 4 + 2 (3) ^ 2-1[/tex]

Then, Rewriting the function we have:

[tex]f (3) = (3) ^ 4 + 2 (3) ^ 2-1[/tex]

[tex]f (3) = 81 + 18-1[/tex]

[tex]f (3) = 98[/tex]

Answer:

The value of the function evaluated for x = 3 is given by:

[tex]f (3) = 98[/tex]
