A positively charged atoms has lost electrons.

Electron are easy to remove from the atom, electron are of negative charge. Initially atom is neutral that is the charge of electron is equal to the charge of the proton, when atom loose some of its electron, the net charge of electrons is less than the net charge of the Protons, which makes the atom positively charged.
