He fears that he will not adjust to civilian life after gets
out of prison. Initially he is excited
tries to appeal to the parole board to be released only to be refused each
time. When he gets older, he becomes
less inclined to leave prison and in his final parole review comes along, he
finally gets out of prison only feel alienated and alone. Fortunately Andy left him a message and the
two reunite at the end of the movie.
