Stable: It should be clear that what is the figure and what’s the ground. One or the opposite sometimes dominates the composition.
Reversible: Both, the figure and ground attract the viewer’s attention equally, whereas either of them will overtake the opposite, and therefore creates a dynamic style.
Ambiguous: Elements can appear to be both figure and ground simultaneously. They form interesting shapes equally.
