The formula of a slope:
[tex]m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]
We have:
[tex](4;\ 1)\to x_1=4;\ y_1=1\\(7;\ 2)\to x_2=7;\ y_2=2[/tex]
Substitute:
[tex]m=\dfrac{2-1}{7-4}=\dfrac{1}{3}[/tex]
